Wright Flyer Modelling

The Wright Flyer (also called Flyer I or 1903 Flyer) was the first successful powered aircraft. It was designed and built by the Wright brothers. They flew it four times on December 17, 1903, near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, USA.

You can watch some rare footage of the plane in this video. Also, this video is fun to watch as it showed what ideas other people had at the time.

In connected learning classes last week, we made our own models of the flyer using plastic board, skewers, toothpicks and glue. Here are some pictures of us making the Wright Flyer and our finished models...

  1. Well, thank you! I hope that the weather will be better soon, and you will make this trip.

  2. We made a mod wright brothers plane and I made a drone

  3. For this project that we did some other days we cut a board witch Ms.Christina or Mr.Matt bought two wings one rectangle and one square but one eye shape had one of itself. And we got sixteen toothpicks. We got a pencil and drew dots and we measured how far apart they had to be and it like this one cm. away from the edge than four cm. apart from the first one and we cycled like this and we would only stop when we can't do any more.and we did this on the other side now we poked holes in the dots. Then,we put the toothpicks in the holes. And we did this to the other wing but we didn't put toothpicks in the holes. By the way I want to tell you that if you don't work in you're team you color in a fact about the Wright Brothers. Now back to where we were now we got skewers and we got eight of them. We got four skewers and the other half i'll tell you about that later on but now back hot glued the first two skewers going up and the two on the top just glued straight and we got the shape that had one of itself and one shape was glued on the top and the other was glued to the bottom pointing out. And the other four skewers the fist two on the bottom was glued so it would go up and the other two on the top was glued so it would go down but on the very top of the skewers would be touching now for gluing for the shapes the rectangle was glued first so the top would point up and the square was glued to the bottom of the rectangle. And we are finished!

  4. I liked the project we did, it was tricky and fun.Our groups flyer 1 looked good.
